Bwalo la Chewa Foundation sets prayers for Covid-19

His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Dr. Lundu and the entire Bwalo la Chewa Foundation [BOLA–CEFO], has sent a message of condolence to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and Malawi as a nation, following the sudden and untimely demise of two senior cabinet ministers, Hon. Lingson Berekanyama MP and Hon. Alhaji Mohammad Sidik Mia.

Until their deaths, Hon. Berekanyama and Hon. Sidik Mia were serving in the Tonse Alliance government as Ministers of Local Government and Transport respectively and were being treated for Covid-19 at quarantine isolation centres.

In a statement released by its National Executive Director, Reverend Flywell Somanje, says His Royal Highness, Paramount Chief Dr. Lundu and the entire Bwalo la Chewa Foundation are condoling the bereaved families of Hon. Berekanyama and Hon. Sidik Mia for the loss of their loved ones and all that have lost their loved ones during the Covid-19 pandemic asking God to be with them and care during these trying times.

……”His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Dr. Lundu, Bwalo la Chewa executive and all the members of Bwalo la Chewa joins Malawians and the bereaved families in mourning the two senior cabinet ministers who have greatly contributed to the development of the country,’’……reads part of the statement.

Bwalo la Chewa Foundation is advising all of its members and followers to always adhere to the precautionary measures such as washing hands with soap, social distancing and wearing face masks to prevent the further spread of the pandemic in the country.

The grouping is assuring government that it will be relaying Covid-19 messages to all of its members and followers so that all play a part in the fight against the second wave which according to World Health Organization [WHO] spreads faster than the first Covid-19 wave the country faced in March 2020.

In view of these hard times, Bwalo la Chewa Foundation has organized special prayers for Covid-19 which will be held at its Khulubvi Shrine in Nsanje district on 30 January 2021, saying His Royal Highness Paramount Chief Dr. Lundu will lead the prayers according to the Chewa tradition which used to pray to their ancestral spirits whenever calamities befell them.

The grouping says the prayers will be held under strict Covid-19 observations for a gathering of not more than 100 people, that no one will go to Khulubvi Shrine in Nsanje without authorization of Shrine leader, who is Paramount Chief, Dr. Lundu.

May the souls of Hon. Lingson Berekanyama MP, Hon. Alhaji Mohammad Sidik Mia and all those that have died of Covid-19 pandemic, rest in eternal peace.
