The Centre for Democracy and Development Initiatives [CDEDI], has written Attorney General, Hon. Thabo Chakaka-Nyirenda to come out very clear on whether or not, the Tonse Alliance administration has changed on its earlier position on Covid-19 voluntary testing and vaccination, giving him 14 days to act on the concern which is a true reflection of the situation on the ground.
CDEDI says it believe that President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera is running a transparent and accountable government with the welfare of Malawians at heart and in line with section 12 of the Republican Constitution saying some citizens can choose life and go for the vaccine while others, can also choose life by deciding not to get inoculated.
The organization says it is therefore prudent and fair that those in positions of authority should be very open, clear and consistent on any policy changes as long as it is done in good faith and in the best interest of the people of Malawi.
In a letter signed by its Executive Director, Sylvester Namiwa, CDEDI says the Attorney General, Hon. Chakaka-Nyirenda has come into his office at a time when debate is raging on which could best be described as a silent government policy ‘’ NO VACCINATION NO WORK POLICY’’ in the country.
CDEDI says both the public and private institutions are currently outclassing each other by imposing mandatory Covid-19 testing and vaccination contrary to what the Minister of Health, Hon. Khumbize Kandodo-Chiponda told the nation when announcing plans to roll out the vaccination campaign that the exercise was voluntary and that the World Health Organization [WHO] position is very clear, that the Covid-19 vaccine is voluntary.
The organization says since the public and private institutions started implementing their NO VACCINATION NO WORK POLICY some people have lost jobs while others have been forced to reveal their medical conditions to their employers in an attempt to be saved from the mandatory exercise.
It claims that scores of people have lost business opportunities thereby being deprived of their right to economic activities, and most importantly, the majority have been forced to act contrary to their conscience, religion, belief, and thoughts in a quest to save the only source of survival for their families.
…’’ What is particularly more disturbing is the silence on the part of the Malawi Government, despite the CDEDI formally writing the Minister responsible with a copy to the Covid-19 Taskforce,’’…reads the letter in part.
In relation to the same, Bantu Saunders Jumah, a social media public speaker was quoted warning African government leaders to tell their people the truth about Covid-19 vaccines saying failure to do this, Africans will be forced to fight their governments, governments will use the police to fight people and this will result to war in Africa.
Jumah said Africans have already been told that there is a green passport coming for those that received the vaccinations so that they have access to public transport, enter shops and markets, saying this conspiracy theory need to be removed in African countries calling upon African leaders to support President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera’s call for Africa to have two laboratory tests of manufacturing own Covid-19 vaccine.
…’’If Africa has two laboratory tests of manufacturing own Covid-19 in Kenya and South Africa, many Africans would go for voluntary testing and vaccination assured of safety other than these coming from outside Africa which have come with a conspiracy theory that Covid-19 will be devastating the world for 5 years and those that have received the vaccine will not last two years,’’…said Jumah.
