President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera has congratulated the Malawi Assemblies of God Church for over 70 years of participation in God’s work and designed a fit for a mission national headquarters in the Capital, Lilongwe.
Dr. Chakwera said this has added a state of beauty to the Capital City and contributing to Malawi’s 2063 vision of quality infrastructural development as a key enabler of transformation.
He thanked Malawi Assemblies of God Church under President Andrew Duwe for being a model of 2063 vision of building Malawi that is self-reliant, the vision launched in February, 2020 for inclusivity, wealth, industrialized middle income country which is self-reliance.
Speaking at the Ground Breaking ceremony of the Malawi Assemblies of God headquarters in Lilongwe on Thursday, Dr. Chakwera said as a church, they have achieved self-reliance through complete transition from being donor funded to being self-sustained by raising money from its own members rather than dependent on foreigners and politicians.
Dr. Chakwera said he has appreciated the church’s efforts of complementing government in various sectors such as Education, Communication, Arts, Gender equality, Leadership development and international relations, among others.
He said in gender equality, the Church is leading by example having a large number of educated and empowered female church officials at all levels of church leadership including Secretary General, Dr. Matilda.
The state preside who was the guest of honor at the Events said he also appreciated the church for not abandoning its mission of preaching the gospel, church planting and continuing to be a community that respects unity out of diversity.
…’’My appeal to Malawi Assemblies of God Church is for zeal and integrity in the implementation action of the project to ensure value for money,’’….said President Dr. Chakwera.
He called upon the faith bodies to take the lead in the fight against corruption saying if every church goer refuse to take bribes, Malawi will live up its aspiration to be a God-fearing nation, appealing to the Church not to stop prayers and giving guidance in a strive to build Malawi that will allow all Malawians to prosper together in building a Malawi Wokomera Tonse.
In his remarks, the Church’s Deputy President, Reverend Benito Chisamba assured President Dr. Chakwera that the church will continue praying for him so that he governs Malawi through God’s interventions and protection.
President Dr. Chakwera has since made a personal donation of MK2 million to go towards the construction project of the Malawi Assemblies of God national headquarters offices in Lilongwe.
