Chitipa United FC to beef up squad ahead of 2019 TNM Super League

By Kennedy Nyirongo
Newly promoted team from northern region Simama and Sons Premiere League into the elite TNM Super League, Chitipa United Football Club has disclosed that it will not be maintaining the same squad that earned the promotion besides beefing up the old squad with new experienced players.
Speaking in a telephone interview from the team’s base, the team’s coach, Robert Mziza said they need to blend the squad with experienced players who have had a feel of playing in the country’s top flight league if they are to withstand the pressure of securing their stay in the league.
Mziza has therefore said the team will recruit seven players during the current off season in order to fully beef up the current club’s squad.
“We are leaving no stone unturned because come next season, we would like to be a strong side which can fight for honours and not to be a team fighting relegation just like it has been during the previous seasons when we participated in the elite league, ”Mziza said.
He said discussions are at an advanced stage to get players on loan from Nyasa Big Bullets and Silver Strikers in a drive to strengthen the team.
“As of now, we have approached Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets who have shown commitment to assist us with some players. I don’t want to divulge more information but I can assure you that we will have players on loan from these two teams,” he said.
Chitipa United was promoted into the TNM Super League having amassed 85 points from a total of 35 games that they played in the Simama and Sons Premiere League in the 2018 season.
