Court Rebuffs Mutharika on Vote Rigging Case

By: Vincent Gunde
Social media reports are indicating that the court has rejected president professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s letter requesting his Lawyers to ” NOT INCLUDE HIM” to the vote rigging case now in the hands of the Constitutional court.
The court said that APM is the source of this, therefore, it is not necessarily important for him to bring such an excuse.
On Wednesday, president Mutharika and governing DPP lawyers filed to the constitutional court meeting in Lilongwe, Friday, to strike out the election dispute case brought to the court by the opposition MCP and UTM.
According to reports, in a letter to Chief Justice on UTM and MCP petitions, president Mutharika is reported to be considering himself to be a complainant and not a respondent because he also has evidence that r Dr. Chilima and Dr. Chakwera store his votes in other regions.
UTM and MCP petitions were filed within 7 days on the 4th day after Justice Dr. Jane Ansah sc, chairperson of Mec declared Mutharika winner of the Tippex election results.
Meanwhile, in news from across the borders,
The constitutional court in the Democratic Republic of Congo( DRC) has disqualified 23 Members of Parliament who were elected in December, last year’s polls.
The court has since ordered fresh elections to replace the disqualified MPs in the regions.
