Central Region Football Association (CRFA) committee says its hopes are sky-high that it will deliver on the promises it made on football development.
The committee’s chairperson, Austin Ajawa, said this at Civo Stadium on Saturday during the committee’s first meeting since it was ushered into office on 13 March.
He said as pledged in its manifesto, the committee is working around the clock to strike a sponsorship deal.
“We are currently in talks with one sponsor who has pledged to pump into the league K5 million and we are now at an advanced stage because we are negotiating on increasing the sponsorship further,” he said.
He added: ” When time is ripe we will be able to unveil the sponsor.”
On resumption of the game of football, Ajawa said currently Football Association of Malawi(FAM ) is in talks with government on the possibility of resuming the sport.
He then called upon members to be united so that they realise their dream of taking football to greater heights.
“We pledge to take on board all the concerns that different teams had raised and see how best we can consider them,” he said.
Dowa District Football Association chairperson, Solomon Chirwa hailed the committee saying he was hopeful that the committee will deliver on the promises.
“We have confidence and expectations in the committee that it hits the ground running as we wait for football resumption in the region,” he said.
On March 13 2021 FAM conducted elections for CRFA where new office bearers were ushered in.
The elections saw Austin Ajawa being elected CRFA chairperson with Goodall Chinjoka as vice while Benard Chiwiriwiri Harawa and Antonio Manda were voted as General Secretary and Vice General Secretary respectively. Charles Majidu Selemani was entrusted to keep the association’s purse while seasoned accountant Hastings Chilunga deputised him.
Other executive committe members include: Wales Kazonde, Kondwani Kandiado, Gresham Gwaza, Paul Kampira, Charles Chimanjamanja and Felix Kholowa.
CRFA has registered 22 teams geared to compete in the premier league.
