Dedza district football committee General Secretary Crink Mahilas has expressed happiness with the way football has improved in the district for the past decade.
Mahilas said despite some challenges that were encountered in past ten years there are a lot of positives to point out.
He said the league has produced top players to the top flight league as well as national team.
“It has been a successful decade, we produced top quality players into the top flight league for example Robin Ngalande who once played for Spanish giants Atletico Madrid reserve side is a product of Dedza Young Soccer. Another talent the league has produced is Be Forward Wanderers right back stanley Sanud who joined the Lali Lubani outfit from Mighty Tigers. But before his move to Tigers he started his career here at Dedza Strikers reserve team. Other top class players are Maxwel Gasten, Kelvin Thotho and Chisomo Mpachika.”
Mahilas also said he is delighted that the district has been producing Chipiku League representatives each and every year and Dedza young soccer managed to be promoted into the top league in 2016.
He further said the fact that the League has been there for the past Ten Years is another thing to cherish.
“We have managed to have ever present league in Dedza and our League has produced represantatives in the Chipiku League all the past ten seasons one of the best district Leagues in the country”
For the challenges he said the inconsistency of District League sponsors and no representative in the top flight League.
“The problem with the sponsorship is that they don’t stay longer, in 2013/14 season we had Moses Kumkuyu as the sponsor after parting ways Bembeke Radio Station took over from 2015-18 before the current sponsor Gerald Kampanikiza succeeded. So you can see that Bembeke sponsorship was worthy K2million but the coming in of Gerald Kampanikiza it dropped to K1million so sometimes its like we are just moving backwards in terms of money.”
The G.S. further revealed plans find other companies to partner current sponsor so that they form two divisions for Dedza League to accommodate more teams that are eager to participate.
