Schumacher Kuwali was on target twice as Blue Eagles beat Moyale Barracks 2-0 to reach the semi finals of FISD Challenge Cup.
The Eagles started well in the opening minutes of the first half, despite missing the services of their captain Mecium Mhone who was serving two yellow cards ban.
The Area 30 policemen were on target 18 minutes in the first half through Schumacher Kuwali who made an easy tap in following a good exchange of passes with Foster Biton.
Ten minutes later The Soldier of Kaning’ina could have equaled the scores but Deus Mkutu who was left unmarked sent his shot wide from the six yards.
There was an improvement for Moyale Barracks in the second half, Charles Nkhoma and Lloyd Njaliwa controlled the midfield but Deus Mkutu and Gastin Simkonda squndered numerous scoring opportunities.
Schumacher Kuwali completed his brace and doubled Blue Eagles lead on 64 minutes as he beat two Moyale defenders before sending the ball to the bottom corner of the net.
With just five minutes to go, Blue Eagles goalie John Soko made double saves to denie the Soldiers from getting a consolation goal.
After the match Blue Eagles coach Declerk Msakakuona was pleased with the performance and the result of the game. “Am happy with the result, we played well and at the end of 90 minutes we have won”
“We are facing Silver Strikers in the semi final I expect a tough game but I believe my boys will not disappoint me” said Msakakuona
On his part Collins Mkuna coach for Moyale said it wasn’t their day “we played well but we missed more chances, may be it was not our day”.
Blue Eagles will date Silver Strikers in the semis of FISD challenge cup while Kamuzu Barracks will face Hangover United.
