Malawi’s Lilly Banda finds new acting role
Malawi’s new movie export Lily Banda has landed a role in the second season of a British political thriller titled Deep State.
According to information on deadline.com, Banda plays a Malian translator who is ambushed and supposedly killed.
Banda’s appearance in the series comes after her international debut in the biopic of Malawi’s William Kamkwamba titled “The boy who harnessed the wind”.
The season two of the drama, is expected to premier in April on Epix in the U.S. on April 28 and will air on Fox in the UK and across 50 countries in Europe and Africa in early May.
The series is produced by Endor Productions.
Banda joins other Malawian movie exports such as Eugene Khumbanyiwa who is based in South Africa, and Chantelle Phiri who also enters the SA Movie industry this year.
In the series, Banda is rubbing shoulders with some of the big names in Hollywood such as Joe Dempsie, from Game of Thrones and Walton Goggins from The Tomb Raider and Ant-Man and the Wasp.
