MCP diehard supporter asks Chakwera to reshuffle cabinet

Malawi Congress Party [MCP] diehard of Mvera in Dowa district, Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has asked President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to fire his cabinet and either replace them with new faces or else borrow a leaf from Tanzania and have two ministers only.

Kamphangala said Malawi has been turned into a laughing stock where its leaders campaigned fully to end corruption but the same are advocating for corruption to continue taking centre stage making the poor wonder where politicians are taking Malawi to.

He said the abused MK6.2 Billion Covid-19 funds is a revelation that the whole Tonse Government is corrupt and the system running the country is rotten. Ministers and presidential advisors have not only failed the President but Malawi has failed the battle to fight corruption.

The MCP diehard supporter said Malawians have no trust in the ministers and advisors whom President Dr. Chakwera has, adding it is very disappointing to note that the President has fired the Technocrats of his Covid-19 committee leaving in a bunch of politicians posing as ministers in the committee who are also thieves.

……’’The firing of DoDMA Commissioner and Co–Chairperson of Presidential Committee on Covid-19 could have come in with a cabinet reshuffle as all have failed the President and his Tonse Government. They need go back to the drawing board,’’…..lamented Kamphangala.

He is advising President Dr. Chakwera to hire in Muvi wa Chilungamo’s Commander in Chief, Bantu Saunders Jumah to help him and Dr. Chilima on what best can Malawi do to get to the bottom of corruption for the country to move out from a roundabout.

Kamphangala said that the whole government system is dead and corrupt citing in Nkhotakota, where it is alleged that on 2nd February 2021, the Ministry of Education officials conducted a Covid-19 meeting planned to last for 3 days, but it lasted for 2 hours and both facilitators and participants allegedly pocketed full daily subsistence allowance amounting to K90,000 each meant for 3 days.

……”On the same day, the officials travelled to Salima for a similar meeting of 3 days but the training was completed in a record of 2 hours and they all pocketed daily subsistence allowance for 3 days at K90,000 each, for the facilitators and participants,’’…..reads the writing in a whistleblower’s initiative.

Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Kondwani Nankhumwa MP has pocketed a total of K3.6 Million Kwacha from 02 October 2020 to 26 January 2021 out of the Covid-19 funds at a daily subsistence allowance of K60,000 at 2 days each and fuel refunds.

Nankhumwa is quoted in the press that the allegations are politically motivated, saying the money only came to him in brown envelops without anywhere to sign for and there was no breakdown as to how much of the money was to be used for daily subsistence and how much was for fuel refunds.

Kamphangala said Nankhumwa’s explanation tells the nation that there is clear evidence that the whole 6.2 Billion Kwacha Covid-19 funds was abused by all, including Ministers in the Tonse led administration, saying this demands a complete overhaul, where Saunders Jumah comes in as a Presidential advisor if President Dr. Chakwera is to earn public trust to last for 5 years in office.

He warns President Dr. Chakwera that if he decide to sweep his advice under the State House carpet, he will be remembered by Malawians as to have served for one term in office just as former President Professor Peter Mutharika did.
