The Malawi Defense Force [MDF], has shortlisted names of candidates to undergo Officer Cadet Training 2020/2021 interviews at Malawi Armed Forces College [MAFCO] in Salima from 18th October– 1st November, 2020.
The candidates have been put into two groups; Group A to be interviewed from 18th -24th October, 2020 while Group B from 25th October – 1st November, 2020.
The MDF has since advised candidates to take note that transport expenses will not be reimbursed and MDF will only provide transport from Salima bus depot to MAFCO on the 18th and 25th October, 2020.
A Malawi Congress Party [MCP] staunch supporter at Mvera in Dowa district, Mr. Rodgers Kamphangale, has hailed the Tonse Alliance Government for the good initiative of making sure that recruitment of MDF cadet officers be for all Malawians unlike in the cancelled interviews where regionalism and tribalism was the entry qualification.
Kamphangale expressed hope that the Malawi Police Service [MPS] will follow the same recruitment procedure as done by the MDF, saying the names of the candidates are circulating on the social media to minimize noises that sons and daughters of prominent people have been taken on board.
…….’’We have seen the names from all the districts in Malawi, this is what we voted for Malawi Wokomela Tonse to change the recruitment exercise basing on one region and tribe,’’….said Kamphangale.
However, Kamphangale expressed fears that the interviews in Salima will only attract those candidates who will meet the travel expenses without thinking of transport re imbursement, hence the poor will not attend.
He said from the list of over 250 candidates shortlisted, not all candidates will make it, the casualties will be there imagining those travelling from Chitipa, Karonga, Nsanje and Chikwawa, saying candidates from these districts travelling to Salima will not come from the poor families. Kamphangale is pleading with the Government to reconsider the procedure used by the MCP Government under Kamuzu Banda of recruiting cadet officers at regional headquarters for the candidates to make it easy travelling to and fro the interviews.
