The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has asked Master Trainers to pay attention to what they will be learning during training on polling procedures.
MEC chairperson Jane Ansha said this will help to avoid mistakes that may occur during May 21, 2019 tripartite Elections.
Ansah said this on Monday in Lilongwe during the opening ceremony of a 11 day training of the Master trainers on polling procedures and result management.
“It is very important that they pay closer attention, they should take each and every minute details because if anything goes wrong at polling there will be no chance of collections.
“So we have Senate for the first time that we should have trainers so that our field stuffs are well trained and ready for the polling” Ansah said
Ansah also said that there will be an assessment to see if the Masters trainers have delivered the information properly to the presiding officers.
She further stated that those who have done the same trainings before should take it seriously because they may miss some new details.
“A small consolation is that the fact that most of these trainers have done this before but we have called upon them that they should not come with an attitude of I know it all. They must keep themselves as if they are doing it for the first time so that even the new details that we have introduced this time they should be able to grasp it and then impart to the polling stuffs” she said
Jean Ansah further pleaded with all the presiding officers to avoid showing their side during the polling operations.
“Forget about the parties that you belongs if your one of the presiding officers because that can disturb the whole process”
From 25th March to 4 April MEC will be conducting training of people who will train presiding officers in their respective districts on polling procedures and result management.
