Mike Tete scored a 90th minute equalizer as Silver Strikers snatched a 1-1 draw against Blue Eagles at home despite being outplayed in a TNM Super League match on Saturday.
From the kickoff,Blue Eagle were on offensive, they dominated possession through midfield maestro Gregory Nachipo and winger Vitumbiko Kumwenda who registered first attempt of the game on 8th minute but powerful shot deflected off the legs of Trevor Kalema.
Two minutes later Gregory Nachipo came close to open scores as his shot from the box went over the crossbar before Yunus Sherif cleared the ball on the goal line few minutes later.
Silver Strikers settled in the game when Danken Nyoni blasted the ball over the bar in the sixteenth minute.
Khuda Muyaba had an opportunity to give coach Abasi Makawa on his debut a lead from the spot after a handball in the box,but John Soko used his legs to denie Khuda’s ninth goal of the season.
The Area 30 outfit took the lead on 45th minute through un marked Foster Beaton.
In the second half Henre Misinjo and Maxwell Salambula replaced Vitumbiko Kumwenda and Micium Mhone for Blue Eagles as Bankers were pushing for an equaliser.
Joy for Silver Strikers faithfuls came in the stoppage time as Mike Tete pulled a trigger for the bankers to start second round with a Home draw.
Bankers new coach Abasi Makawa blamed his player for failing to utilise chances” we failed to utilise opportunities but all in all am happy because my boys did not give up until our late equalizer”
After the draw, two Lilongwe giants have maintained their positions on the table, Silver are fourth with 29 points while Blue Eagles are apoint behind Bankers on fifth position.
