Fifteenth placed Mlatho Mponera have closed the gap between them and fourteenth placed Mtopwa FC after their victory over Amaghetto Boys in a TNM Super League match at Civo Stadium.
Part of action between Mponera and Mtopwa
New catch from Mitundu Strikers Jafali Chande, put the hosts ahead ten minutes in the first half following a good exchange of passes with Ferguson Mtondo.
Mtopwa were looking tired in the entire half, no wonder they conceded a second goal with just ten minutes before half time through Chikumbutso Banda, whose bicycle kick went into his own net.
The second half was not much entertaining with both sides failing to make serious attempts on goal.
The result means both sides have collected 17 points, but Mtopwa stays above because of goal difference .
Coach for Mtopwa Travor Kajawa said they have lost because of fatigue to his boys.
“Our game plan failed to work because we conceded earlier and then we gifted them a second goal. We failed to play our usual game may be because of fatigue as you know we played another game yesterday and travelled from Dwangwa to Lilongwe” said Kajawa
Asked if he there’s still hopes of surviving relegation Kajawa said: “yes we will survive! We are remaining with two away games out of eight, I think we will use home ground advantage to collect more points at home and stay in the league”
