Nyasa Big Bullets moved a step closer to the TNM Super League title after thrashing Kamuzu Barracks 3-0 at Civo Stadium.
The League leaders were looking for a victory to boost their chances of reclaiming the crown and it was Misheck Seleman, Hassan Kajoke and Chimwemwe Idana who made it possible to give them maximum points.
The People’s team were 1-0 up at the interval thanks to Misheck Seleman finish after 28 minutes as he finished a pass from Idana inside the box.
Super substitute Hassan Kajoke increased the lead just after the break. It was a pass from Idana again who spotted Kajoke in the box before the TNM Super League joint top goal scorer made an easy finish.
The hosts who were outplayed in all departments conceded with four minutes to go. It was solo goal from Chimwemwe Idana who dribbled past three KB defenders before sending the ball into an empty net.
The victory means Nyasa Big Bullets have opened four point gap over second placed Silver Strikers with both teams remaining with a single game while third placed Mighty Wanderers who have a game in hand trails the leaders with five points.
Nyasa Big Bullets stands a chance of clinching the title without kicking the ball if Wanderers lose tomorrow when they face Ekwendeni Hammers. A draw for Wanderers will extend title battle up to the final day but a draw for the Peoples team in their last encounter against Karonga United will give them advantage over Wanderers who will be required to beat Moyale Barracks 13-0 to hijack the title.
On the other hand a loss to Kamuzu Barracks has ruled them out of top 8 finish and they won’t take part in this year’s Airtel Top 8 Cup.
At Mzuzu Stadium, Silver Strikers have suffered a 2-0 defeat in the hands of Moyale Barracks.
A goal in each half from Raphael Phiri sealed Top 8 finish to the hosts, and on the other hand ended the Central Bankers title hopes.
The Central Bankers will wrap up the season with a home fixture against Ekwendeni Hammers.
