Reds Eager – an Early 3 points over MAFCO in Super League

Zomba based Super League returnee, Red Lions, are optimistic about gaining an early 3 points over their elite league returnee rivals, MAFCO FC. The Reds will face MAFCO FC at their home ground, Chitowe Stadium, in the showdown.

Nelson Chirwa, head coach of Red Lions, told www.smashmw.com that meeting with MAFCO FC will be a tough assignment for both sides of the team to crown 3 points at Chitowe, but he wishes his team will be the winner.

“We know that our game with MAFCO at Dwangwa with a tough game on both sides to get the maximum 3 points. This is because we are coming from lower leagues. We are also army teams and we know each other in terms of behaviour as army teams in the field of play.”

“Despite, our two consecutive loses with Sliver Strickers in the pre-season games, this is another encounter that should be looked at from another angle. We have looked into the flaws we made in the pre-season matches so that we should get our first three points at Dwangwa Stadium,” said Chirwa.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has received an assurance from government that the teams will be allowed to have half of their supporters cheering their teams during the matches at stadia.

Commenting on this development, Chirwa said this will give a boost to the teams’ players morale when in the field.

“We are very happy with government initiative through FAM for allowing the presence supporters at the stadium to support their teams. This will boost the performance of players on the pitch once football season commences since the supporters are player number 12 at the stadium.”
