Seven people have been seriously injured in a road accident which happened on Sunday in Dowa.

The accident which happened on Sunday October 27 2019 at Chisonga Village near Lumbadzi Bridge along Salima-Lilongwe Road, involved a motor vehicle registration number CA 7553 Toyota Hiace, driven by Moyenda Khazika, 34, from Senzani Village in Traditional Authority Phambala in Balaka.
Traffic Police report indicate that on the particular day, the driver was driving from Salima going towards Lilongwe with 16 passengers on board.
Upon arrival at Chisonga rumble surface, the driver lost control of the motor vehicle due to overspeeding and as a result the motor vehicle went to the nearside verge and hit the embarkment (wall).
Following the impact, seven people sustained various degrees of injuries and they were referred to Chankhungu Health Centre, later to Dowa District Hospital where they were also referred to Kamuzu Central Hospital.
