Silver Strikers are not giving up on acquiring the services of Blue Eagles attacker, Vitumbiko Kumwenda, despite his interest to join Mighty Be Forward Wanderers.
The bankers are in the market for an attacking midfielder to boost their attacking options following the long term injury of Jack Chiona.
On Thursday this week, Blue Eagles announced that Kumwenda has joined Silver Strikers after a successful agreement on transfer fee.
“This is to officially inform all that Vitumbiko Kumwenda is now a Silver Strikers player with immediate effect from today.
“Silver didn’t use any dubious means to tap the player from Blue Eagles Football Club as they followed all necessary procedures and fulfilled the requirements set by the club” reads part of the statement
But an hour latter the left footed midfielder played down the reports by posting “There’s no agreement between Vitu and Bankers”
Vitumbiko went ahead to buy out his contract from Blue Eagles and asked Football Association of Malawi to clear him from the Area 30 outfit which clearly indicated his desire to join Wanderers and fade off interest from the Bankers.
“I have managed to mobilize the amount Blue Eagles requested me to pay and I have moved to make the payment here with attached is a deposit slip”
But it seems Silver strikers are still chasing Vitumbiko’s signature.
The Bankers website quoted Head Coach Daniel Kabwe yesterday during unveiling ceremony of defender Nickson Mwase who joined from from Civo Sporting Club and striker Rodwell Robert from LUANER, saying “Silver is still pursuing Vitumbiko Kumwenda as an attacking option which he is very much interested in signing for his elite side”
Silver Strikers have so far released striker Mikel Tete and defender Yunusa Sherrif and replaced them with Nickson Mwase and Rodwell Robert and they are willing to complete one signing before the window slums shut this night.
