By Erik Chiputula
Mighty Beforward Wanderers fans are calling for Bob Mpinganjira to be sacked following the Airtel Top8 quoter final defeat by Silver Strikers.
Mighty Wanderers with their highly rated newsigning Babatunde Adepoju, were nowhere near their best as they were handed a defeat after Khuda Muyawa’s rebound went straight into an empty net.
After the match Wanderers Chief supporter Melvin Nkunika demanded the Executive to sack the technical panel.
“Bob is a failure, we struggled today because of his poor selection so we want the Executive to sack him together with his backroom staff” said Nkunika
Despite spending a record amount on transfer fees this season, the Nomads mastered up a total of zero shots on target in the entire 90 minutes.
It was the first time that Mighty Wanderers had failed to record an attempt in the domestic competition.
Some Wanderers fans who were following the match through their official page also reacted after the match to air their grievances.
One supporter wrote : “There we’re no shots on target. Center maybe Manyozo is now tired. JK, Chester and Wadabwa I miss your service alot”
Another one simply put : “90 minutes no shot on target, what kind of play is this?”
And another fan wondered : “How can we play 90+ without a shot on target? This is my first time to see my beloved team Mighty Beforward Wanderers play like that”
Mighty Wanderers must produce a comeback in the second leg of Airtel Top8 to keep their hopes alive after the Central Bankers left Kamuzu Stadium with a slender advantage.
In Kasungu, Karonga United scored an important away goal as they drew 1-1 with the home side TN Stars.
Gule Mwaisope put the visitors ahead in the first half but Stain Davie late equaliser gave the home side a sigh of relief.
