By: Vincent Gunde
Civil Society Organisations ( CSO) under the banner, Human Rights Defenders Coalition ( HRDC), will on Thursday and Friday this week hold vigils in Blantyre and Lilongwe, and nationwide demonstrations in the districts.
Districts such as Zomba, Mzuzu, Ntchisi, Dowa, Chitipa, Karonga, Rumphi, Nsanje, Chikwawa and Mangochi will hold the demonstrators to demand transparency and accountability.
Political parties, the MCP, UTM and UDF have all endorsed the nationwide demos by urging their supporters to grace the demos in their large number to force Babylon fall.
The UDF is the latest to join the demonstrations after it had relocated itself in the opposition benches in Parliament and has cut off its strong working alliance with the DPP.
According to the organisers of the nationwide demonstrations, Timothy Mtambo and Gift Trapence, the demos will be held in line with the Constitutional right to demonstrate as outlined in Malawl’s Republican Constitution.
Top on the CSOs demonstrations agenda, is to demand Mec Chairperson, Justice Dr. Jane Ansah sc, Mec Chief Executive officer, Sam Alufandika, and Mec Commissioners to resign as per HRDC letter and petition on her failure to manage the elections especially result management.
